I am a law student spending the 2011-2012 academic year abroad in Kazakhstan on an academic fellowship. During my time in Kazakhstan I’ll be studying Kazakh and Russian, and hopefully undertaking some academic research. Before going to Kazakhstan, I’ll be studying Kazakh at Indiana University in Summer 2011.

Kazakhstan is the ninth largest country in the world. It is located in Central Asia. Here are some websites with more information: https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/kz.html, http://www.lonelyplanet.com/kazakhstan, http://www.akorda.kz/en/, and http://www.rferl.org/section/Kazakhstan/158.html.

During my time in Kazakhstan, I am hoping to get in at least one good high-adventure trip; perhaps some trekking, climbing or skiing. This website has piqued my interest: http://www.kantengri.kz/index1.html.

Hi, loved your blog. I have just moved to Almaty and was searching on Almaty buses when I cam across your blog.

    What are you doing now?

We are looking for some “good” people in Central Asia – Bishkek, Dushanbe, Almaty, etc.
